A GAME- CHANGER
MacBook PRO M1 (2020) REVIEW
The MacBook Pro M1 (2020), is undoubtedly a game-changer in the world of laptops. Powered by Apple’s revolutionary M1 chip, this device takes performance, efficiency and experience to a whole new level. With a starting cost of $1299, it is unquestionably an investment, but one that offers exceptional value. As a high school student, I can confidently say that the MacBook Pro M1 (2020) has exceeded all my expectations.
PERFORMANCE
The M1 chip in the MacBook Pro brings a remarkable boost in performance. Whether I am writing an essay for English, handling intensive multitasking, editing photos of the latest nail art I just did for a client or just simply watching my favourite TV show: ‘Desperate Housewives’, the MacBook Pro handles it all with ease and speed. The M1’s processing is unmatched, offering snappy responsiveness and smooth performance across all my tasks.
BATTERY LIFE
The battery life is great. It keeps me going throughout the day at school and there is no existing trepidation on where to find a power outlet in class. Of course, I’d have to charge it the night before. Apple claims it lasts up to 20 hours of battery life and it certainly isn’t an exaggeration, it’s a reality.
GRAPHICS AND DISPLAY
The ‘Retina display’ is nothing less than clean, stunning, sleek and sharp details. Paired with the work of the M1 chip, the graphics and visuals have exceptional clarity and fluidity. From watching movies to editing photos, the Macbook Pro M1 leaves nothing to be desired. I enjoy the luxuriousness of lying in my bed and watching Desperate Housewives on my laptop more than my TV in my room. The TV that I roistered about for months until I got my hands on this laptop.
THERMAL MANAGEMENT
The M1 chip’s impressive thermal management ensures that the laptop stays cool, even under workloads. The fanless design enhances the laptop’s silent operation, and I appreciate the absence of annoying fan noises during work sessions when I need to concentrate. Paranoia doesn’t eat me up anymore from the fact it sounds like the laptop may blow up and potentially put me on a deathbed because of the cacophonic sound. I’m death free (unless there is something that I’m not aware of).
DESIGN AND BUILD
One thing that is tremendously luxurious and convenient to me is the lightweight build. The slim factor makes it immensely portable, perfect to travel from class to class with. It doesn’t add an unbearable amount of weight on top of books. Nobody likes to carry textbooks and a heavy laptop. The MacBook’s lightweight build is another reason why it’s one of the best laptops in the market.
USB PORT
Admittedly, the limited port selection might be a downside for some users, including me. With only two USB-C ports and a headphone jack, I found myself occasionally relying on USB-C dongles for additional connectivity options. It is manageable and I can deal with it but I can see why some people would find it inconvenient.
CONCLUSION
The Macbook Pro is a great option to choose from in the competitive market of laptops. Its unrivalled performance, battery life and seamless macOS integration make it a worthy investment for students. If you’re seeking an outstanding experience, the MacBook Pro M1 should be at the top of your list.
