God Of War 4

In 2018, Santa Monica Studios released the 4th game in the God Of War franchise, and immediately everyone loved it, making $500 million, only within the 1st year after its release, making it the most successful Playstation-exclusive launch ever! The other games in the franchise are great, but this one surpasses them all!

This game was made 5 years ago, and yet the quality is at a higher level than a lot of other high value games. The first scene you witness is Kratos (the main character), chopping down a tree, which ordinarily wouldn't be that interesting, but we immediately see the incredible animations they put into this game, combined with the state-of-the-art graphics. Throughout the entire game, you get to experience 6 gorgeous realms, amazing animations, without almost any bugs!

As I just mentioned, the gameplay in God Of War 4 is endlessly spectacular, with over 55 different kinds of enemies to face. With thousands of combinations of attack abilities to choose from, there is an endless amount of gameplay with this game. Just in Niflheim alone, there is an infinite amount you can play, because although there are only a certain amount of rewards, after that you can continue to experience a forever changing battle environment, I spent about 30+ hours after i finished the game just going through Niflheim, seeing what challenges I could give myself to make it harder.

On top of that, the 2018 version of God of War has one of the best storylines of any of the games so far. In previous games, we saw Kratos as a 1-dimensional beast, slaughtering anything he saw. Then in this game we see how after he fled Sparta and had Atreus, he became softer, more caring. We see him trying to care for Atreus, keeping the secret of his god-hood to save Atreus from the life Kratos had to live. We even see elements of Kratos’ past reappear, for example after Atreus falls ill, we see Kratos dig up the Blades of Chaos, the main weapon in the previous games, which has to be my absolute favourite scene, showing Kratos confronting the ghosts of his past, even being visited by the spirit of Athena, the old God of War, who made Kratos do most of the evil things he did, before he killed her.

This game has an insane storyline, breathtaking quality, and incredible gameplay. This has to be one of, if not the, greatest games of all time, even the sequel to this did not quite live up to the same standard. If Santa Monica keeps making games like this, they will make games people will love forever.
