Canteen’s chocolate muffin, are they worth it ?
Let’s first talk about the look of these muffins.
The muffin is given to us and we firstly see a chocolate crisp on the top that has no shape, it gives a bad impression of the muffin. Some little chocolate chips would be more attractive. This layer of chocolate does not seem crunchy and thick.
The package of this muffin is nice and practical. It helps not to get your hands dirty while eating. The colour of this package is brown.
Let’s talk now of the taste.
This muffin is the chocolat one with a chocolate dough and chocolate chips in it plus the chocolate crisp on the top. This muffin is available reheated or cold. I ordered it reheated and the chocolate chips in the dough started to melt and it made the dough less dry. I recommend you reheat this muffin if you normally like a muffin with liquid chocolate in its centre.
The final thing to talk about is the price. This muffin cost $3.50 at the canteen. For $4.70 you can get 4 muffins at Coles. At Woolworths the pack of 4 double chocolate muffins is about $4.70 too. Aldi is the supermarket that sell the cheapest double chocolate muffin. They are at $3.12 but it is a kit to make 12 muffins. I think that the price of the canteen’s muffins are way too expensive and that it will be better if they lower it.
My opinion:
I took this muffin because I was hungry and I wanted to try it, if you haven’t tried them you have to. But due to the chocolate crisp on the top and the price I will not take one again.
I give the muffin 3/5
If you want to eat a really good double chocolate muffin you can make the one from Lilie bakery.
